Tips to help your Air Conditioning System Perform to its Optimum

  • Monday, 23rd September, 2013

Set the temperature of your air conditioner to between 18-21°C in winter and between 23-26°C in summer.

Resist the temptation to have your house like an ice berg in summer and like the tropics in winter, it is not generally necessary and can put additional load on your air conditioner, plus for each degree you move away from these temperatures, you can consume up to 8% more energy.

Cleaning your filters regularly

It is quite surprising the amount of dirt and dust that builds up within the air conditioners filters. Blocked filters will force the unit into working harder and therefore using more energy. Alternatively cleaning the filters is generally an easy and simple process that can be achieved in a few minutes with a vacuum cleaner. But we do suggest you call us for advice or consult the unit’s manual if you are unsure of what is to be done.

When Queensland summer days become very humid, have the fan speed set to slow.

During our Queensland humid weather, having your fan set to a slower speed will actually cool more effectively. This is due to the air moving slower through the cooling equipment, allowing more moisture to be removed from it.
