Thunderstorm asthma season is here

  • Wednesday, 5th December, 2018

Thunderstorm asthma season is here again, with those who suffer from hay fever needing to be the most prepared. People are being warned to be prepared about this potentially fatal condition, which can strike throughout the summer.

While high pollen counts are not ordinarily dangerous, a thunderstorm can make it dangerous. When the rain hits, airborne grains of pollen absorb the moisture until bursting point, releasing smaller particles. These smaller particles can penetrate deep into the lungs, triggering asthma.

It is believed that the recent droughts could help to lessen the risks of asthma this season, as thunderstorm asthma relies heavily on grass pollen, which there is less of this year.

Much of Australia’s east will be experiencing intense heat throughout the summer, accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Quality Air suggests adding a Hypersan unit to your system. Hypersan is a technology that acts to proactively sanitise the air to overall heighten the quality of the air inside your home. This system adds an extra layer of protection on top of the standard filtering system inside ducted air conditioning systems.

Contact us today to find out more about Hypersan, or read more information on our blog post about Hypersan and how it can benefit your home.
